Great Reasons That One Might Want To Consider Garage Floor Mats
Whereas people who are going for a certain look often choose epoxy garage floor paint or garage floor tile, those who just want to get the job done without messing up their concrete often go for garage floor mats. This may or may not be your best option for the long run, though. Let's take a look at the various reasons why one might choose garage floor mats over tiles or paint so that you can be sure you're purchasing the right garage flooring solution for you.
Garage Floor Mats Might Be Your Cheapest Option
A garage floor mat could very easily be the cheapest option. Well, a compartment mat could, anyway. Compartment mats are used for protecting small areas of concrete garage floor to prevent damage. There's parking mats, too, and full garage mats, though those are certainly not all that cheap. Actually, compartment mats sometimes get expensive as well if you end up getting one with lots of features, like tall, concave edges, and liquid absorption. But when everything is said and done, a mat is the only way for protecting garage floors that will cost less than $60, except maybe a cheap epoxy garage floor coating.
Installation Is As Easy As It Gets
You would think this would be readily apparent, but then lots of people don't think the time it takes, or how hard it can be to apply something like an epoxy garage floor coating. Many of them end up paying a contractor for installation, which totally destroys the cheap price of that epoxy kit. Picking up a cheap garage floor mat is quite simple. In fact, you just might spend as much, if not more time choosing which mat to buy than installing it.
Garage Floor Mats Can Cover Extremely Damaged Concrete
Sometimes there really is no choice; a thoroughly damaged concrete garage floor makes it impossible to install either epoxy or peel and stick garage floor tiles. In this case, you only have two options: interlocking tiles, or a garage floor mat. One thing you will notice when browsing interlocking tiles is that they are expensive. Even small sets, which really compare more to compartment mats than anything, can cost upwards of $300. Unless you're going for a specific look, I can't see how that would be worth the price.
Garage Floor Mats Are The Easiest To Clean
Some mats actually absorb liquid, be it oil or water, which is especially cool because you can generally just wring them out later. This is great for the environment because it allows you to pick the spilled chemicals up and move them to a safe location. Even those mats that just have raised edges give you this option to a degree. The ability to pick the mess up and relocate it cannot be overstated. Will it matter to you? I guess that depends on how often you make a mess!
